Last week American Initiatives received thank you letters from parents of students attending the Montemira School in El Salvador, an institution that seeks to provide secondary education and technical training to women of low-income families.
We would like to share one of these letters with you from Victor Benitez, a driver, and his wife Sandra, a housewife. Their daughter is a 1st year student named Kenia.
“We thank God for this place… As parents, we apologize to our daughter because unfortunately, we were not educated enough to be able to educate our children properly. But we, even with our limitations, love our children though many times we do not understand them and we correct them improperly… Montemira is like an oasis in this desert, in this devastating society lacking values, where our families are surrounded by enemies who destroy our children. Here, our daughter is given the opportunity to know a new way of life and to learn how to deal with this society to become a better daughter, and eventually, a better wife and professional. The improvements we have noticed are that she is more orderly in her life, and tidy; she is more respectful and delicate. We see she is happier with herself and with us. We know God helps her, as do her teachers and instructors who have the patience to teach her every day what we as parents have not been able to. Thank you.”
The words in this letter speak for themselves and are the engine of motivation behind American Initiatives, Montemira, and many other organizations whose work could not be possible without your generosity. So for this, thank you.
